The Lady Remington, Panama, in St John's harbour. I've always liked the way the hawsers snake up to the ship they're holding. (For non-sailors, "hawsers" are the big ropes.)

Inside the vault
20120811_042_nl_stj_web
In this room the barrels would be sized as they came off the docks from Portugal, and the volume of wine determined. The bars came later, when it was converted into an internal vault.

Just outside the vault itself in the protective covering. The external parts of the vault's arches can be seen.

And the old railway station is now the site of, of course, a museum. Quite a good one, actually. You come out with your head spinning with Newfoundland railway facts. Plus there's a model train set and Thomas the Tank Engine souvenirs!
